Botanic Tapestry: An Artistic Bridge to Nature
Our latest outdoor installation, Botanic Tapestry, is now open to the public at Burghley House in Lincolnshire, UK.
This two-phase exhibition spread across the South Gardens and Sculpture Garden feature artworks inspired by the rich art collection within the house and the nature that surrounds it. Each design in this series is inspired by flowers found within the Burghley grounds, as well as in the intricate still lives, marquetry, textiles, tapestries, Japanese netsuke, and Chinese enamelled porcelain housed in the estate.

The gardens of Burghley, known for their lush plantings, wildflower meadows, and diverse ecosystems, form the heart of the flags’ designs. Flowers and insects from the gardens are brought to life in these flag artworks, capturing the elegance and diversity of the natural landscape. The intricate patterns and vibrant colours found in Burghley’s historical paintings, tapestries and textiles find new expression here, weaving in motifs of birds, butterflies, and foliage with an energy that mirrors the gardens’ thriving flora and fauna.

The result is a series of works on fabric that unite the cultural treasures and natural splendour of Burghley House, celebrating the harmony between art, nature, and history. Each piece is not only a visual statement but also a tribute to rewilding, an invitation to reconnect with nature, and a reminder of the rich tapestry that gardens and art bring to our lives.
You can visit Botanic Tapestry in Burghley South Gardens from 15th March to 21st April 2025.
The installation will then move to Burghley's Sculpture Garden from 26th April to 31st August 2025.
