A Year of Firsts: Our Creative Journey in 2024

A Year of Firsts: Our Creative Journey in 2024

As we approach the end of the year, it's only right to take a look back at all that 2024 had in store for us. From presenting our first gallery exhibition at Helm, to collaborating with a global brand and our first international project, here are some of our highlights:

The Wellbeing Garden - Shanghai, China

October saw the launch of our first global brand collaboration with lululemon and an exciting (yet slightly overwhelming) trip to Shanghai for us both. Having been approached by the fitness and lifestyle company earlier this year to create artworks and installations for locations across mainland China - we jumped at the opportunity!

Together with lululemon, Graphic Rewilding artworks took over Shanghai's START Museum, Chengdu's awe inspiring LED clad Tiantou towers, and many other public and retail spaces across the country. The scale of this project was absolutely massive and we couldn't be happier with the outcome.

Lee says: “This is the year where everything we’ve worked towards is starting to come together. We’ve been doing a lot of expansive thinking and creating and it feels like it’s all working - this year is definitely a turning point.”

Iris Upon Iris Upon Iris - Helm Gallery

Back in the spring, we brought Graphic Rewilding to the gallery space - filling Helm, in Brighton, with irises. For our inaugural gallery exhibition, Iris Upon Iris Upon Iris was definitely an exercise in focus, as we spent 3 months in the studio bathed in the yellow and blue violet combination while making the enormous 3m long paintings.

We found that the reduction of the installation to just one type of flower, along with the limited colour palette had a profoundly positive, almost meditative, effect which we hope was felt by viewers of the show.

You can find original and limited edition artworks to purchase through Helm Gallery.

Wild Swing Mini Golf - London

Over the summer we had the amazing opportunity to design and create a mini golf course on Greenwich Peninsula. True to our mission of bringing unexpected eruptions of art to everyday urban landscapes, the golf course was drenched in colour and flowers inspired by the local historical marshlands.
Visitors were encouraged to play the pop up course in amongst the flowers that once were, inspiring more appreciation of art and nature in modern urban living.

Between several major projects, a handful of public murals, artwork releases, a digital projection piece and our very first tracksuit design, 2024 has been a big year for Graphic Rewilding. That said, it has not been without its challenges and being full time artists can be a rollercoaster of a ride.

Learning from this year, we remind ourselves daily to not give up, as you never know what is around the corner.

Catherine says: “Starting in January we had nothing happening and within a few weeks of being in the studio drawing, chatting and visualising ideas, we had lined up an international mega project, our first gallery exhibition and a handful of other public art projects. Now we’ve started work on projects for 2025, 2026 and beyond”
We can’t wait to show you all that is coming in 2025, working with commissioners and curators from around the globe. We’re up for the ride - so if you’d like discuss collaborating with us on future projects, we want to hear from you!
